Today with Molly the Owl...

I know I am interrupting the flow of "Essential Gospel Truths" (but hey I'll be posting #3 a bit later). Anyways, I have to tell you how much fun we had today watching Molly the Owl live on the class computer. I don't know about where you live, but she's been pretty popular on the news here in SD. Who is Molly? She's a Farm Owl that had her eggs in a Owl Box made by an elderly couple here in SD. They planted a camera in the box so we could watch her. Her first egg is supposed to hatch today!

Any-"hoo" (ha,ha), as we watched Molly today, I thought what a perfect opportunity to talk about God as a good Creator. Instead of talking about how pretty the owl was, I said things like "Wow, God is such a good Creator. Look at all her beautiful feathers. God is so creative. God made owls like Molly to show us he is a good Creator."

One thing Jill Nelson mentioned is to be careful when comparing God to other things. Basically, we don't want  them to get stuck on the object of the comparison. So you'll notice in her quotes she says things like "God made thunder to show us a little bit of how powerful He is" Notice, the "a little bit." Because thunder only shows a LITTLE BIT of how hugely powerful He is. So I should've included that by saying " God made owls like Molly to show us a little bit of how good of a Creator He is" But like I said I'm still working on it too.

Posting #3 real soon!
